Saint-Joseph red wine - cuvée La Tolondière 2019 Domaine Louis Chomel
BackThis Saint-Joseph red cuvée La Tolondière 2019 is a wine open to fruit with light notes of wood, a cuvée which fully expresses the characteristics of the terroir of the Louis Chomel estate in the heart of the Rhône valley in Ardèche.
WINEYARD - TERROIR
The vineyard of the Louis Chomel estate is mainly located on the heights of Saint-Désirat in Ardèche (Department 07, Auvergne Rhône Alpes region) with a southern exposure, close to the banks of the Rhône with frequent north winds.
This red wine from the Saint-Joseph appellation is cultivated on a place called La Tolondière, a historic home of the Chomel family for five generations. The hillside vines are old vines between 10 to 30 years old.
The light and shallow soils consist of sometimes sandy granite-migmatite.
The Saint Joseph red wine La Tolondière 2019 cuvée is made entirely from the SYRAH grape (100%).
VINIFICATION AND AGING
The harvest is carried out manually, the bunches transported whole. A first sorting is carried out within the vineyard then a second on arrival in the cellar. Total destemming, maceration and alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in temperature-controlled vats.
Depending on the vintage, the La Tolondière cuvée is aged over a period varying from 10 to 12 months and results from a blend of 80% barrels of 2 to 3 wines and 20% vat.
