Saint-Joseph Red wine - cuvée Dame de Coeur 2017 Domaine Louis Chomel
BackThe prestige cuvée Dame de Coeur 2017 appellation Saint-Joseph comes from the oldest vines of the Louis Chomel winery. This red wine from the Rhône valley, generous and seductive, with a crimson red color and intense, is aged in barrels between 15 to 18 months.
WINEYARD - TERROIR
Plot selection of the oldest vines from the Louis Chomel estate, whose vineyards are grown mainly on the heights of Saint-Désirat in Ardèche (Department 07, Auvergne Rhône Alpes region).
The vineyard is facing south, close to the banks of the Rhône with frequent northerly winds, a context offering a unique climate!
The light and shallow soils consist of sometimes sandy granite-migmatite.
The Dame de Coeur cuvée is made entirely from the SYRAH grape (100%).
VINIFICATION AND AGING
The harvest is carried out manually and the bunches are transported whole. A first sorting is carried out within the vineyard then a second on arrival at the cellar. Total destemming, maceration and alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. Malolactic fermentation in barrels (decrease in acidity).
Depending on the vintage, the Dame de Coeur cuvée is aged in barrels over a period varying between 15 to 18 months (20% new bariiques, 80% barrels with one to two wines).
